Secure Peace
All thing opposite of peace are caused by money, power, greed, and beliefs. How can one person hate another so much to cause harm. I have seen peace work in Iraq. Once a group of another sect gets along under one idea peace flows. Money is the main cause of unrest. One person has money they don't like someone for some reason or another power is established. War then death and the vicious cycle keeps going. maybe peace will intervene. Many countries fight over differences in beliefs. they should live be an old saying "To each his own". Many countries are poor and only know war. We need to help them unite under something let them know there is a better way. Technology is one way like this site that helps children of third world countries unite under technology ( http://laptop.org/en/ ). Let them know there is a world of amazing things out there. every life is precious and is worth saving.

I'd like to introduce Thomas Cook and thank him publicly for contributing hundreds of peace oriented links on the Global Peace Network project!
Tom is from Canton, Ohio and has proven himself an outstanding citizen of peace through his volunteering many hours to help organize our peace links! Tom has taken time to verify that all the links he's added to the link directory are actually working and not showing 404 errors!
Tom is already asking about adding RSS news feeds to the project since he's found some very interesting feeds in the site verification process and he's also committed to the principle that we wish to make it easy for people to find an easy path toward news of peace....
Thanks Tom!

In the process of researching the web for peace links of value we discovered a gem! The GPI was founded by Steve Killelea, an Australian international technology entrepreneur and philanthropist. It forms part of the Institute for Economics and Peace, a new global think tank dedicated to the research and education of the relationship between economics, business and peace. This report is written in cooperation with the Economist Intelligence Unit.
The index is composed of 24 qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources, which combine internal and external factors ranging from a nation's level of military expenditure to its relations with neighbouring countries and the level of respect for human rights. These indicators were selected by an international panel of academics, business people, philanthropists and peace institutions.
The GPI is collated and calculated by the Economist Intelligence Unit. The table below provides the GPI rankings for the 140 countries analysed in 2008 and the 121 countries analysed in 2007, as well as year-on-year comparison. Countries most at peace are ranked first. A lower score indicates a more peaceful country. You can click on a country to see the detail of its peace indicators and drivers.
